The
Leeuwkop golf course is conveniently situated in Sandton, an area comprised of some of Johannesburg’s most affluent northern suburbs.
The
Leeuwkop Golf Course is an 18-hole par
71 rated course which is accompanied by various club amenities. Among them
is the pro golfing shop which is
always staffed with at least one PGA-certified
professional who not only offers shopping advice but lessons to all
levels of golfers. The classes can cover anything from chipping, pitching
and bunker play to driving and iron play.
The
practise facilities at the Leeuwkop Golf Club include a driving range and putting greens which are available to members and
visitors. Other golf-related facilities include the hiring of equipment such as golf trolleys and carts.
The golf
course also happens to be home to several
species of birds, which gives the course a nice lively touch, especially
when they’re all chirping away as you make your way around the course. Some
species that have been spotted on and around the course are the white-throated
swallow, the African palm swift, the Pygmy kingfisher and the purple heron
among many others.
While the
course is very pleasing, the Leeuwkop Golf Club would not be the same without
its social aspect. The halfway house
at the club offers an array of foods including pastries, hot meals and salads
as well as soft drinks and hot beverages. There is also a bar area, complete with wide-screen television and a pretty veranda. These areas are the
perfect place to meet up and shoot the breeze after a round of golf.
For a more
specialised social or business meeting, there are two function venues for hire in addition to the outside lapa area.
