The University of Zululand or UNIZULU was established in 1960 with the main campus located in the rural Kwa-Zulu Natal district, KwaDlangezwa.
The campus, which is situated 19 kilometers south of Empangeni, houses four of the university’s faculties and offers students a range of internationally accredited degrees, diplomas, and certificates in the fields of Arts, Commerce, Law, Administration, Science, and Agriculture.
To date, the campus has a recorded populace of 16 118, which includes foreign students from neighboring African countries, as well as South America and Australasia.
The campus has global partnerships with international tertiary institutions as part of an exchange program. The aim of the program is to provide opportunities for local students who wish to study abroad, and is a way to share new information with other universities. This exchange initiative is made possible through the International Linkages Office and connects UNIZULU with Manchester University, Oxford University, The University of Michigan, and others.
KwaDlangezwa Campus has up-to-date facilities and technological equipment for the convenience of the students. There are auditoriums and conference halls for exam purposes and functions. Computer laboratories with access to the internet as well a library gives individuals access to a wealth of information for assignments and learning. A fully-stocked health clinic is available to sick students and is free of charge. There is a centre for recreational activities and sports facilities for active students.
