Umhlali Country Club Golf Course is the brainchild of the highly-acclaimed landscaper, Peter Matkovich. It forms part of the upmarket Umhlali Country Club, an estate located along the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
The 18-hole course is built around the natural layout of the land, with palm trees and indigenous vegetation lining the fairways. During play, golfers can spot a myriad of bird life and small buck who are attracted to the grounds by the indigenous flora and fauna.
With the course being moderately challenging, enthusiasts looking to warm up before a game can do so at the on-site driving range. Here you can hire out a bucket of balls and hone in on your skills. Golf Carts with an inbuilt GPS system are available for hiring at the Pro shop – a recommendation to golfers who are wanting to play the full 18-course.
During those hot days of summer, golfers can end off their play with a refreshing dip in the club’s swimming pool. Afterward, you can have a cold beer or other refreshments poolside from the adjacent bar. Club members can enjoy a few rounds at the exclusive halfway house or if you’re women, take some time out at the ladies-only bar.

It is a beautiful area, but it was too busy December. The Granny Pool in Salt Rock was too busy to even have a swim in it. We went to the beach once only at Salt Rock. People braaied in the parking lot and was drinking and made a noise.
