The Waterfront Theatre School is a private college located in Cape Town, South Africa. The school offers tuition in the performing arts as full time post-matric qualifications, classes for school age children and part-time courses for adults.

The school has its roots in Johannesburg, where it first opened in 1978. Back then it was named Dance Workshop, but the name is not the only thing that’s different about the school these days. In 1986 the school moved premises to the fashionable suburb of Rosebank and only in 1992 did it find its current location next to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town. Its name evidently underwent a change too to suit this new location.

The school is well resourced, offering students the best possible experience. There are 9 studios, 3 private lesson rooms, 3 costume stores, a canteen, a large workshop for set-building and there is also serviced accommodation for 20 students who require it.

The Waterfront Theatre School’s permanent staff consists of 13 internationally qualified teachers and lecturers plus guest teachers, who are all heavily involved in the arts scene. They teach a range of subjects under the dance, drama and musical theatre banners. The courses offered by the college are registered through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing London and Trinity Guidehall of London. This ensures that all qualifications awarded are internationally recognised.

The college offers performers and entertainment for corporate events too, and has provided actors for role-playing seminars, kid’s entertainment and in-house videos among other things.

Apart from the good qualifications it offers, the college is also appealing thanks to its location close to some of Cape Town’s best attractions.
