Accommodation near Wave House Durban - 8
Wave House is an exceptional entertainment
complex with a particular focus on all manner of board sports. It is a
worldwide enterprise with locations in North and South America, South Africa
and Asia. Durban is the only Wave House in South Africa and is a firm favourite
on the Durban sport scene.
As the name implies, the artificial waves
are the focus at Wave House. Durban’s Umhlanga complex boasts 3 waves and
between them there is a wave to suit anyone and everyone from beginners and
children to professional surfers and skaters. There are two family waves known
as flowriders, which are gentle and suitable for body boarding, while the D-Rex
is an awesome double point break standing wave which offers barrels, and an
overall exciting challenge to those with a little more board-riding experience
behind them.
Alongside the wave area is a fun and
challenging skate park which was designed by world champion skate-boarder Tony
Hawke. There are also loads of food stalls as well as a large stage which has
been known to host a variety of artists, whose live shows add a decided buzz to
the place and definitely account for at least part of the reason Wave House
Durban is so popular. And it is popular!
Up to 2 million people visit Wave House
annually, with about 100 000 people opting for the wave ride sessions and
75 000 people for the skate park. Despite being on the coast in a city
which has plenty of natural waves on its doorstep, the Umhlanga attraction
remains popular for its novelty value and the fun vibe.

Umhlanga Rocks Reviews
Umhlanga Rocks
Umhlanga Rocks has a BUZZ and VIBE, like I have seldom experienced elsewhere!
Absolutely EVERYTHING one could desire, is to be found in this seaside 'village'!

Umhlanga Rocks
Beautiful area where we could take long walks on the beach and we also walked to nearby shops. Unfortunately the public bins was overflowing and pollution spoiled the breathtaking scenery. But the weather was perfect and we enjoyed watching the fishermen from early morning till late at night. Overall it was a wonderful holiday.

Umhlanga Rocks
Not a place we would choose as a holiday destination. Too busy, noisy, crowded. We like to really get away from everything and everyone when we go on holiday.
