Playing a round of golf at the White River Country Club is bound to be a pleasant experience. Teeing off in good weather while surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque farmlands can hardly go any other way. The country club lies on the banks of the White River itself and is roughly 5 kilometres from the little Mpumalanga town of the same name.
The region is touted as having one of the best climates in South Africa. Conditions are defined as sub-tropical but the region is not nearly as hot and humid as other sub-tropical regions in South Africa. Instead visitors will be graced with pleasantly warm summer days with a little rain, and cool but bearable winters. The sun shines throughout the year.
The country club’s golf course is an 18-hole parkland affair which has been around since the 1920’s. Usual golf rules apply and in order to maintain the club’s standards, it’s imperative that players dress in appropriate golf attire.
Once you finish up a round of golf, the club house will be waiting for you, complete with a bar and restaurant and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, which includes sub-tropical fruit orchards, fields of vegetables, flowers and timber plantations. This is, after all, the heart of farming country.
When you’re not in the mood for golf, the club also offers tennis courts, squash courts, cricket and hockey facilities and for those hot days, a swimming pool located right next to the club house.
The White River Country Club is conveniently located close to the Kruger National Park and White River itself and other small Mpumalanga towns such as Hazyview.
