Bloubergstrand is een buitenwijk aan de kust van
Kaapstad ongeveer 25 km ten noorden van het stadscentrum. De naam betekent ‘blauw berg strand’ en is genoemd naar de ‘Blouberg’, een heuvel niet te ver van de kust. Het is voornamelijk een woonwijk maar trekt veel bezoekers, zowel vanuit andere delen van
Zuid-Afrika en het buitenland. Bloubergstrand is beroemd om zijn witte zandstranden en het klassieke zicht op de
Tafelberg. Het belangrijkste strand in Bloubergstrand is
Big Bay.
De beslissende
slag om Blaauwberg is in dit gebied in 1806 uitgevochten waarbij de Engelsen de verdedigende Nederlandse legers versloegen.
