Bluewater Bay is located in Port Elizabeth, found midway between the friendly, windy city and the thriving harbouring development of Coega.

The bay, which is known for its many miles of pearly-white, sandy beaches, endorses a lifestyle that is peaceful and easy-going to the locals. Having remained largely untouched by commercial development over the years, the area has of late, mushroomed as a residential suburbia. Pensioners looking to retire and holidaymakers looking for a seasonal home have set up shop in Bluewater Bay. While the bay has become increasingly upscale as a result, it still retains its old charm as a seaside town.

One of the reasons for Bluewater Bay’s popularity is due to it being an ideal venue for a myriad of water activities. While it boasts an ocean that is lovely for swimming and surfing, the bay is in close proximity to the Sundays River. Here, water babies can kayak and canoe upstream while spotting a couple of water birds along the way.

Other attractions that make Blue Water Bay a notable place to visit are the salt pans and the Swartkops River. If you’re a twitcher, you’ll have your nose in a bird book trying to identify the hundreds of water birds that swoop and roost in the area.

Travel further afield and you'll reach Addo Elephant Park. As the name would suggest, the reserve is home to the densest population of elephant in South Africa. Furthermore, the park is the only place in the world to harbour the Big Seven - elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, southern right whale and the great white shark.
