The suburb of Green Point is undoubtedly one of Cape Town’s gems. It’s vibey, it’s inclusive and it’s gorgeous. Wedged between Signal Hill and Table Bay, the CBD and the Atlantic Seaboard, it is also accessible and close to most of Cape Town’s best attractions.
The Green Point Strip lining Somerset Road, is one of the places to be seen in Cape Town. With a number of bars, restaurants and even the odd club in the vicinity there is always a passing parade made up of locals, expats and tourists.
As a place to live, Green Point is popular amongst the city’s young professionals. Properties are small, and apartments offer great views over the Cape Town Stadium, constructed for the FIFA World Cup. For tourists there is just as much appeal.
Apart from the stadium which is a design marvel, Green Point Urban Park provides a free space for locals and visitors to wander, or do some exercise at the outdoor gym. The biodiversity garden will introduce you to indigenous plants and teach you how the local Khoi San population used the plants for their medicinal properties.
Green Point is within walking distance of the beautiful Sea Point promenade, which runs along the coast, and the red and white striped Mouille Point lighthouse which is South Africa’s oldest.
The centre of Cape Town with all its galleries, museums and creative energy is a 5 minute drive away as is Table Mountain and Lion’s Head. Slightly farther afield are the fashionable beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton.
