Nature's Valley Logement
Nature’s Valley is a small settlement on the famous Garden Route with a unique and awe-inspiring setting. 29 kilometres from the larger town of Plettenberg Bay, Nature’s Valley is particularly well-known for being the end point of the Otter Trail, a 60 kilometre trek and arguably South Africa’s most scenic hike.
The town is special for being completely surrounded by the Tsitsikamma National Park and Marine Reserve. The scenery is spectacular and you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t gush about its setting. Set against a back drop of the towering Tsitsikamma Mountains, and tucked between the Groot River lagoon in the north and the Soutrivier (Salt River) in the south, the final touch is the Indian Ocean to the town’s east. Places which offer as much peace, tranquillity and inspiration from nature are few and far between.
This combination of mountain, sea and lagoon are a veritable playground for those passionate about nature and the great outdoors. The fauna and flora is diverse here, with a variety of trees and fynbos growing in the mountains and along the coast. Animals such as bushbuck, bush pig and vervet monkeys can even be seen in the gardens of the town and the birdlife is abundant too.
The beach at Nature’s Valley is uninterrupted and the seawater is warm and inviting. It is the perfect place to chill out on the sand or take long beach walks. You can even collect smooth pebbles from Pebble Beach if you are so inclined. For more strenuous walks and hikes, the mountains behind Nature’s Valley offer many options and many people have whiled away happy hours canoeing and sailing on the lagoon.
Nature’s Valley is an excellent point of call on a road trip up the East Coast, but is also a relaxing and fun destination in itself.
