Waterberg Verblyf - 3
The Waterberg is an extraordinarily beautiful region of Limpopo, South Africa’s most northern province. The Waterberg (Water Mountain) region of Limpopo lies in the south west of the province, bordering Gauteng. It consists of 15 000 square kilometres of indigenous plant and animal species making the area popular for nature buffs and those in need of some seriously fresh air.
One of the main reasons visitors are drawn to the Waterberg is the array of provincial and private game reserves it has to offer. The region is well stocked with Africa’s famous Big Five - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros- automatically giving it status within the international travel community.
The region is also sought after for its spectacular scenery. Wide open grasslands are interrupted by the looming mountains and some distinct formations. An iconic Waterberg image portrays a large mound of rock protruding from nowhere it seems, with strangely rounded edges.
Besides game and bird watching in the reserves, visitors to the Waterberg are spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor activities. Many a hiker has fallen for the vistas offered from its tallest peaks and if you want to get even higher, one of the most special activities on offer is hot air ballooning. Horse-riding and river rafting are also activities possibly worth pursuing.
If you are planning in taking part in any of the above activities, you will need to find a place to stay. Waterberg accommodation is found either in game lodges within the reserves or in the towns dotted around the region. These towns include Bele-Bela (famous for its hot springs), Mokopane, Vaalwater and Lephalale.
If you need accommodation, look no further than Sleeping-OUT. We have a wide array of Waterberg accommodation types on our listings and our simple, safe online booking system saves you time and gives you peace of mind.
