White River is a small farming community just over 20 kilometres to the north of Nelspruit, capital of the Mpumalanga province. The town was established after the Anglo-Boer War on the banks of the Emanzimhlope River, a Swazi name meaning ‘white water’. It is from this that the town’s name was derived.
