Eikendal Weintaufe Harvest Carnival 2019 - 9
The Stellenbosch winelands will don their most convivial carnival colours when Eikendal Vineyards celebrates the end of its harvest with a farm-style Weintaufe jamboree that promises a merrymaking funfair for young and old on Sunday, 3 March 2019.
The Eikendal Weintaufe has become a summertime family tradition in the winelands over the years, and this year revelers can once again enjoy a day merriment with exceptional wine, scrumptious pop-up food stalls, grape stomping, lucky draws, carnival performing artists, a visit by their cheetahs, tractor rides and golfing challenges. Live music by the talented Newton & Co. and local sensations, Ram Entertainers, will add rhythm to the festivities.
The estate is known as one of the premium wine producers in Stellenbosch the much-lauded Chardonnay will steal the show. Cellarmaster Nico Grobler will baptise the latest arrival on the day, after which revelers will be able to enjoy it straight from the barrel. All Eikendal wines will be on sale. These include reds, such as the Classique flagship blend; whites, like the award-winning Chardonnay; a charming rosé and an MCC. The food offerings will be prepared by the resident restaurant, Cucina di Giovanni, famous for its delicious Italian fare.
“This year we want to celebrate our Chardonnay in a big way, so come to our winemaking playground and share in the fruits of our labour. We’re having a Harvest Carnival so you better wear your party hat!” shares Eikendal Cellarmaster Nico Grobler.
There will be a strong focus on kiddies entertainment so that Mom and Dad can truly kick back at the water’s edge and savour the latest vintages on offer. Amidst all the popcorn, ice cream and cotton candy treats the little ones can also enjoy a creative wonderland of arts and crafts.
Entertainment ranges from face painting, balloon animals and popular cookie decorations to clowning around in the jungle gym or on the lawn and jumping castle, so prepare to receive a few parent-of-the-year hugs.
Tickets for the Eikendal Weintaufe Harvest Carnival 2018 will be available at the gates on the day and cost R120 per person, which include a free glass and tasting from the barrel plus all the entertainment on the day. Under 18’s get in for FREE. Bring the friends and family and remember the sunscreen.
The gates open at 10h00 and make sure to claim your spot before the official christening and tasting of the new Eikendal Chardonnay 2019 which will take place at 12h00.
