Johannesburg International Motor Show 2015 - 3
The biennial Johannesburg International Motor Show is a twelve-day automotive exhibition and lifestyle event held in the heart of Johannesburg. The show will next run from 14- 25 October at the Johannesburg Expo Centre. This event is the only OICA accredited, internationally recognised motor show in Southern Africa.
This vertical automotive exhibition will feature displays, interactive activities, demonstrations and motoring sub-events and a 45,000m² gross indoor exhibit space and 40,000m² outdoor exhibition space. Founded in 1996 as Auto Africa the exhibition has played a strong role as the Continent’s leading automotive showcase and joined the ranks of international motor shows such as Paris, Geneva, Frankfurt and Tokyo when it gained OICA Ranking in 2004.
The main different between this show and other similar shows is the way that the Johannesburg Motor Show has embraced change. The way that consumers buy cars, relate to brands and interact with technology has changed and the show have reflected this in its evolution from an information exchange to a more experiential consumer engagement platform.
Ride and Drive activities will provide opportunity for visitors to experience their dream cars in action rather than simply viewing a static display; the ever-popular 4X4 track will allow them to test the ruggedness and capability of their favourite 4X4 vehicles and there will be numerous opportunities to meet motoring personalities and brand ambassadors at the show.
A Techno Lab showcasing future trends and technology will lead the innovations with a display of the latest in high-tech trends including robots such as Honda’s ASIMO, the latest in solar and hybrid power technology and the convergence of the mobile technology and the automotive industry.
Another highlight is the Show Theatre which will provide visitors with access to new events, unveilings of the latest models and a sneak preview of models yet to be introduced to the South African market.
The theme for the business-to-business component of the show for 2015 will be 'Placing Africa in the Driving Seat'. Focus on opportunities with Southern Africa business partners will be a strong theme for the commercial vehicle sector with growing demand for trucks, buses and trailers coming from the growing economies in Sub-Saharan Africa.
