Poetry Africa 2015 - 19

Poetry afficionados will be please to know that South Africa's largest annual poetry festival will be taking place on the 12 - 17 October 2015 in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

The event sees the collaboration of selected regional and internationally acclaimed poets who'll be showcasing a variety of masterful and prolific storytelling.

Currently in its 19th year running, the 6-day event is a space for aspiring poets to mingle with like-minded people through community outreach programmes of poetry readings, performances and workshops. Interested parties can also volunteer in a series of school visiting programme that sees the sharing of ideas and the love of poetry to scholars.

This year features 24 poets with headliners including:

UK-based Kat Francois, who is a comedienne, playwright, actress, performer, host, schools and youth facilitator and a well known performance poet both in her country and globally.

Swedish-born writer, activist, feminist and speaker, Lebohang 'Nova' Masango.

UK-based Ghanaian performance poet, writer and sociocultural commentator Nii Parkes.

The much-celebrated, South African poet and actress, Lebo Mashile, who, was named one of the Top 100 Africans by New African magazine.
