Spier Secret Festival Conference 2015 - 2
The much anticipated Spier Secret Festival Conference makes it returns, taking place on the 29 - 31 October 2015 in Stellenbosch. Now in its 4th year of running, the focus of the food and wine event is ethical production, sustainable practices, and current trends.
Wine enthusiasts can look forward to workshops and presentations led by host of expert speakers. These workshops will be small in size so as to encourage prolonged quality time with the speakers and allow for a skills-sharing experience.
To date, the following speakers have been confirmed:
PJ Vadas: A chef devoted to the idea of sustainable dining, PJ has worked for Gordon Ramsay in the UK and US, he is also the former Eat Out Top 10 chef at Roundhouse and Camphors.
Zayaan Khan: South Africa’s leading expert in entomophagy (the practice of eating insects).
Luke Williams: Owner of Culture Club Cheese, Cape Town's first fermented product hot house.
Frans Smit: Spier Cellar Master and member of the esteemed Cape Winemakers Guild (CWG).
Participants will also have the opportunity to taste and learn about the Spier Creative Block wines and gain insider knowledge about the newly restored Spier Werf.
The interactive food movie nights are back by popular demand and allows for viewers to watch a classic movie while eating similar meals to the onscreen characters. The events will be hosted by editor of Eat Out magazine and food editor of Woolworths TASTE, Abagail Donelly.
If you're looking for a more informal affair, there will be an all-day Spier Secret Market featuring local produce, Spier Wines and farm-styled activities for the kids.
