The Two Oceans Marathon - Africa's biggest running event and the world's most beautiful marathon. Eager athletes flock to Cape Town to embark on a 56 kilometer ultra marathon or a 21.1 km half marathon run over road and mountain climbs while being enthralled by the mesmerizing views over the ocean. A motivating and equally attractive feature of the route is, as the name implies, that it takes runners past both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. The next installment of this ever-popular event takes place on the 5th and 6th April 2025.
Runners participating in the event begin their race in Newlands and hit the road towards Noordhoek. It’s then that the most spectacular portion of the marathon begins – Chapman’s Peak.
Every kilometre of the 56 kilometre route will be marked off, right from the start on Newlands Main Road, to the finish at the UCT sports field.The half marathon, which covers 21 kilometres, follows the first few kilometres of the ultra route, but breaks away before you can start heading around the peninsula.
This annual event is enjoyed by many - both the young and old, professional athletes and amateur runners- and turns the Mother City into a thriving hub of spirit and festivity.
