A premiere Vodka festival will be taking place on the 25th August 2018 at the Hillcrest Quarry in Durbanville. Vodka has proven to be a good companion for meaningful conversations and a lot of fun. Organisers Mike Crawford and Denise Barnes says: “We are creating an event to celebrate this audacious tasting drink combined with live music and DJ’s in the heart of the Durbanville Wine Valley to offer you a day of great ‘Russian’ spirit with good music, entertainment and traditional games.”
Festival attendees will experience a multitude of Vodka tasting stations where they can taste various types of Vodka from well-known and influential brands as well as some local craft brands.
Vodka is traditionally drunk neat - but vodka-based cocktails will also be served at a specially built 12 meter long ice bar. From classic Martini’s, Cosmopolitans, Bloody Mary’s to the more modern fusion style cocktails. The Ice Bar we will also boast an Ice Luge from which to enjoy an ice-cold shot and to keep you warm, Red Bull has been confirmed as the official energy drink partner.

Russians love saying toasts, for drinking in silence is frowned upon and thus, there must always be reason to raise your glasses. The Russians most popular toasts are to friendship, peace in the world and just ‘to us’! After finishing your first shot one shouldn’t immediately reach for food. As far as tradition goes, the first shot is just for warming up. Before you start eating you should have at least another shot!
The event will kick off at 12h00. Live bands and DJ's will entertain you throughout the day and into the night: Rock bands from 12h00 to 20h00 and DJ`s will keep you going from 20h00 to 01h00. Rockerfellas and Das Kapital are confirmed for the line-up and more artists and DJ`s will be announced soon.
