Lovely place to stop over in. We visited the nature reserve which was a lovely drive once in the reserve. The dam and dam wall is very impressive - wish we had managed to organize a tour.

Gariep Dam is an amazing display of excellent engineering, planning and execution of a water project. Not only is the dam functional, it is extremely beautiful and vast. We feel blessed and privileged to have been able to visit Gariep dam, especially this year, March 2022, with the water overflowing at the dam wall. What a spectacular sight to behold.

Trompsburg
Friendly people all round. A special mention must be made to Affi Plaas restaurant owned by the Lubbe family. Frikkie and Madelein make everyone feel welcome and there is a jolly atmosphere. The food is excellent and prices good.
