This tranquil, rustic self-catering getaway is situated on a 132Ha farm, nestled between two koppies and overlooking the valley to the Witwatersrand Mountains. A venue offering a quiet break-away and therefore not catering for parties, music or undue noise.
The malaria-free location assures guests of beautiful sunsets and great hospitality. The diverse ecosystem encourages a wide range of birdlife, particularly on the dam and smaller animals like bushbuck, warthogs, scrub hares, mongoose, monkeys and squirrels have also made Thabametsi their home.
Thabamesti Farm offers pet friendly, family orientated accommodation and children are welcome and catered for. This is a true farm stay experience with horses grazing in the paddocks, Munchkin the goat, as well as ducks, chickens and a turkey for the children to feed and keep an eye out for the two tortoises.
All units are comfortably furnished in a rustic theme. Indoor fireplaces and heaters cater for cosy winter nights whilst summer evenings are braai-time in the lovely bomas under the stars. Fully equipped units. There is also free under cover parking.
ACTIVITIES includes swimming in the solar heated pool, various games in the entertainment area with DSTV. Surprise games set up for kids, a jungle gym, trampoline and obstacle course. The kids will discover a fantasy garden and the adults a thought provoking labyrinth. Nature walks, bird watching, kids bicycle track, gym, cycling for adults. Canoeing on the dam, donkey and tractor cart rides are included in the booking. PONY RIDES for kids 4-11 years old. Horse-outrides on the farm on request.
Our Coffee and Craft shop offers local gifts and homemade products as well as some basic necessities while you can enjoy milkshakes, various coffees and more from the coffee shop.
PET POLICY: Small to medium sized socialised dogs and caged birds welcome all year round. Pets sleep inside; bring own pet beds (very important please). Please bring covers for couches and beds if your pets join you on the furniture. They must be free of ticks and fleas. Easy access to walks on the farm. Consideration must be given to resident dogs, cats, birds, farm animals and wildlife. Pets stay FREE. Doggie Damages Deposit required: NONE.

We recommend that you bring along the following:
• Drinking water (although our borehole water is safe)
• Swimming towels
• Casual clothes, walking shoes, warm jackets and hats
• A torch
• Suntan cream
• Bicycles to make use of the tracks around the farm (we have 4 mountain bikes for hire)
• Anti-histamine for bees
• Mosquito repellent
• Feel free to bring any suitable snacks to feed the farm animals and to feed the horses apples or carrots
whilst they are in their enclosures.
