Thembe Eco Lodge is situated on a Hillside over looking the Kwa-Mazambane Reserve in the Northern most region of the Maputuland Wetlands of KZN. This setting lends itself to the most beautiful view over the valley below and from some of the units you are able to see the third and biggest lake of Kosi Bay.

The self catering rooms are well designed and offer all the linen and utensils you may need, Bathroom with shower, BBQ area and a deck from which the visitor can sit and watch the sun rise over the African Landscape and often listen to the cries of the African Fish Eagle.

The tiled floors offer great relief from the sand outside and help in keeping the rooms looking their best at all times. The rooms are all serviced daily by our competent staff to ensure that your stay is as relaxed.

The entire lodge has a well kept lawn and a range of plants which all compliment the natural feel of the surrounding nature hence the “ECO” in the name. The swimming pool is fenced and offers peace of mind holidaying for families with young children.

The Lodge was built to show case the area to local and international guests alike, so that they might come and experience the many wonders of the World Heritage site as well as the other magical attractions such as the Indian Ocean and the large fern filled forests which surround Kosi Bay. From its vantage point the 3rd and biggest lake in the district can be seen in the distance, in the early hours of the morning the roar of the sea can be heard in the not too far distance.

The rooms are all designed around the family needs with a double bed and a bunk bed in each of them with all the linen, towels, cutlery and crockery being provided, leaving our guests to pack their clothing and food for their holiday.

Although the Kosi Bay area is thought of as a 4x4 region it is not necessary for such a vehicle to get to the Lodge however if visitors plan to go the remote beaches, Thembe Elephant Park or even sight seeing in the forests it would be advisable to use this type of vehicle or to book a vehicle from local guide who will assist in getting to these places. The lodge is also able to do transfers to Kosi Bay Mouth at a small fee to assist the guests who do arrive without a 4x4.
