KASTELEIN is a charming little guesthouse for the more discerning traveller. It is situated on a quiet side street in Pongola, directly off the N2 Highway between the Northern Provinces and KwaZulu-Natal or Mozambique. Our guests find it a perfect midway stopover.
Kastelein is also conveniently situated to provide easy access to the Elephant Coast resorts, vast variety of game parks and farms and King Shaka International Airport.
The distinguished and brand new colonial style building is set in a unique landmark garden, a sought-after venue for photo shoots of special occasions. The original homestead which fronts Dr Jansen Street, is home to our reception and dining room and opens to a formal landscaped garden. The guest rooms are set in the quaint backyard and cosy little courtyard.
Kastelein accommodates sixteen guests at maximum capacity, which means it is never crowded, with personal attention to every guest by hosts Rene, Danie and Chris Bosman. Four rooms are in the new building and the deluxe room is adjacent to the main house, with its own private entrance and courtyard. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, the spacious rooms are elegantly furnished and the garden is picture perfect. There is a small pool and safe off street parking. The premises are completely protected by an effective security system.
The ground floor rooms each has a queen size bed, single and double bed, and full en-suite bathroom. They open onto the Victorian style patio with a lovely view of the garden. The two upstairs rooms have a charming atmosphere of their own with pretty dormer windows in the slanting roof. There are double and single beds in each room and en-suite shower room. These two rooms open onto a balcony. The deluxe room is adjacent to the main house and opens onto a quaint little private courtyard. This large room is luxuriously furnished with a queen bed, a day bed and full en-suite bathroom.
All the rooms have sitting areas, equipped kitchenettes for basic self-catering, flat screen television, air conditioning and all amenities are provided.
