Swakopmund is Namibia’s premier holiday resort town, just 363 km from the capital, Windhoek. With the Namib Desert on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other, the weather is surprisingly mild year round (the average temperature ranges between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius). There is a dazzling choice of activities in the area, something for every age and taste, from dune-boarding, sky-diving, horse- or camel-riding to nature drives, museums, galleries, a snake park, curio shops and more. And, of course, there are restaurants galore for every taste and mood.
The main bedroom upstairs offers a double bed, built-in wardrobes, a gorgeous view of the ocean and an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and twin basins. The second bedroom on ground level offers 2 single beds, built-in wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and twin basins. Each room has a small, built-in safe in a wardrobe and a pedestal fan. Hot-water bottles are supplied for all guests on those chilly evenings. Two sets of linen and towels are provided per room (please bring your own swimming towels) and 2 fold-up mattresses for children are available at an extra charge. Also on first level is a separate guest toilet.
The open-plan lounge offers comfortable leather couches, a flat screen TV with DStv (satellite channels) and wi-fi (no reception in bedrooms), plus an indoor braai (barbecue). The kitchen boasts a dishwasher, gas stove with electric oven, microwave oven, large fridge and everything else you may need to whip up a feast. Crockery and cutlery for 6 are supplied. An extra deepfreeze is available in the laundry plus an automatic washing machine.
The unit is serviced twice weekly, inside and out, though daily cleaning can be arranged at an extra fee. A double garage with electronic door offers safe parking for 2 vehicles, with space outside for a third. The unit has a burglar alarm which is connected to armed response.
