Throughout history, man has followed the wings of migratory birds and tracked the hoof-prints of animals to arrive at secret places of plentiful nourishment, relaxation, peace, and beauty and Buccara Wildlife Reserve is proud to honour this tradition. At Buccara Wildlife Reserve healthy living, peaceful coexistence with the land and indigenous culture, wildlife conservation, ecological awareness, and quality of life are preserved by the team to be shared with and enjoyed by all of our guests. Guests have a choice of booking the lovely Willow Slopes Chalets and Main House, Clifton Manor and Main House rooms that can accommodate between 2 to 5 people. The Clifton Estates Manor, with its foundation dating back to 1774, the historical marvel offers 5 double rooms and is the ideal family vacation home with an Out of Africa movie-like atmosphere. Overlooking the beautiful Gardens the stylish rooms are furnished with queen-size, king-size or a combination of king-size and single beds. Each of the air-conditioned rooms has an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a bath. The rooms offer a spacious sitting area with tea and coffee-making facilities, a fridge, Wi-Fi access and share the use of a communal kitchen. The Clifton Main House is slightly more modern than its historical neighbour and offers open living areas with a relaxed ambience. Walk out of the entertainment area, after a game of snooker on our full-sized table dating back to 1911, and dive into the sparkling pool on a warm summer's day. Guests have the option to enjoy their own barbecue around the pool should they decide not to dine as usual from our delectable kitchen. With 4 comfortable rooms to choose from, this Main House will feel like your very own home in the middle of Africa. All of the rooms overlook the beautiful Gardens and they are furnished with king-size, queen-size or a combination of queen-size and single beds, each with a full bathroom en-suite. The rooms are air-conditioned and offer a sitting area with coffee and tea-making facilities, a fridge and Wi-Fi. The lovely rooms share the use of a communal kitchen. This spectacular Willoslopes Lodge was built while maintaining the colonial architecture of the estate, sits beneath the majestic Willow Slopes cliffs and is surrounded by green lawns. The ideal place to relax when you are not going on safari, please kindly note the Willoslopes Lodge can only be accessed via a 4 x 4 or bakkie that can drive on a gravel road with river dips. Guests have a choice of air-conditioned chalets furnished with queen-sized beds and have en-suite bathrooms with showers. Alternatively, guests can book the Main House which offers 2 bedrooms furnished with king-size and queen-size beds, sharing an en-suite bathroom. Each of the chalets and the house is equipped with a TV, and shares the use of 2 kitchens and a lovely dining area and lounge for socializing, as well as a bar area, fire pit, and braai area and pool. At Buccara Wildlife Reserve, we are most proud of the evening hours. Starting with a culinary experience that is compared to an event, with homemade products and freshly prepared meat, which is perfectly prepared and grilled by our chefs. Let yourself be pampered with handpicked wines, spirits, and cigars and experience the stories of a beautiful day under the stars in the Monkey Bar.
Surrounded by the Camdeboo National Park, Graaff-Reinet, the heart of the Great Karoo - Place of Thirst - is a boundless and mysterious area covered by vast livestock and game farms, where broad plains roll away to distant koppies and multilayered mountains that seem to touch the indigo sky. Listen to the silence, breathe in the aged earth and the Karoo bossies, which conjure up the taste of Karoo lamb, and gaze at a startlingly clear horizon that seems drawn at the other end of the earth. Our clear night skies are studded with countless stars and huge bright planets; even other galaxies are visible with the naked eye, offering some of the best star gazing in the world. We invite you to experience the magic of this area, and discover eccentric little hamlets, sprawling farmsteads, the historical town of Graaff-Reinet and the nearby villages of Aberdeen and Nieu Bethesda, populated by warm and welcoming people who love to share their stories and legends.
