Overzicht

KLOOFZICHT ESTATE ACCOMMODATION:

Kloofzicht Estate is the first wine estate as you approach the valley from the Nuwekloof Pass (R46) and is about 4km before the picturesque Tulbagh Village. This self catering accommodation includes The Loft and two Cottages in a tranquil setting surrounded by mountains on all sides.

There are two dams on the farm just a few paces away from the accommodation, that are excellent for bass fishing. The dam with the three islands is safe for swimming or for having fun with the kids in the rowing boat. Stroll down beyond the dams alongside the vineyards to the river winding through the farm. The willow trees around the dams have created a birdwatcher's paradise!
There is an inviting 14m swimming pool next to the main house which may be enjoyed by all guests staying at Kloofzicht Estate. All linen and bath towels are supplied, but please bring extra towels for swimming.
We have three-and-a-half large dogs that may pop over to say hello, so if you are allergic to, or afraid of dogs, then this is not the place for you.



THE LOFT accommodation is situated above the Kloofzicht Estate wine cellar and sleeps six to nine people.
The huge Loft space has a king-size bed on one side, a lounge in the centre and two single beds ideal for children or additional adults on the opposite side. The king-size bed is screened off from this side for privacy. A Romeo and Juliet balcony overlooks the dam and has stunning sunset views over the mountains. Leading off this main loft space is a second double bedroom and a spacious bathroom with a shower.

Downstairs is an open-plan kitchen, dining, lounge area with a daybed for an overnight guest and a fireplace. Leading off this area is another spacious suite with a queen-size bed, a lounge, a kitchenette and one-and-a-half bathrooms with a separate entrance from the garden. Outside is a large wraparound deck to relax with a Sundowner and enjoy the sunset.

THE COTTAGES
For smaller groups, we have two inter-leading one-bedroom cottages, each with two daybeds in the open-plan dining/ kitchen area and a separate bathroom with shower. They sleep 2 to 4 people and are ideal for couples or small families and are fully equipped for self catering. Each has their own braai outside and fireplace inside. The entertainment/braai areas of the cottages are on opposite sides for privacy.



Tulbagh Activities:

Kloofzicht Estate is a relaxed base from which to explore historical Tulbagh. Situated as it is in the bowl of so many mountains, Tulbagh is an ideal outdoorsy retreat, offering horse riding, hiking, mountain biking, bass and carp fishing, birding and 4x4 routes, besides wine, that is.

This is known as the secluded valley for good reason as you won't pass through Tulbagh on your way to anywhere. A welcome hiatus and the ideal weekend escape in the Western Cape.

The town itself is bursting with gems and has the highest concentration of national monuments in South Africa. Since the "historic" earthquake of 1969, which damaged many of the old Cape Dutch and Victorian style buildings, restoration has resulted in a quaint village atmosphere drawing adventurous weekenders.

Turn off the main street (which looks like that of any other Boland town) and seek out Church Street, where a plethora of B&B's, restaurants and museums line the old street with its original irrigation sluice.

Our "Things I Love" deli, bakery and restaurant in Tulbagh has moved to the picturesque Tulbagh Village and offers a substantial breakfast, delightful light lunch and early supper menu and a witch's house full of wicked and decadent treats for the sweet tooth. The cellar stocks a wide range of fabulous local wines.

Or simply pack a well equipped picnic basket with scrumptious goodies from the deli and relax under the palm trees in the garden. The Deli is open 7 days a week.

This unit sleeps 4 to 8 guests and comprises 2 interleading 1-bedroom cottages, each with 2 daybeds in the open-plan dining and kitchen area, separate bathroom with shower, and wood-fired hot tub. Pricing is based on 4 guests Extra guests are charged.

The FarmHouse

The farmhouse sleeps 8 to 12 guests and has 2 double en-suite bedrooms, a twin room, an open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area and a guest loo, and 2 more en-suite bedrooms and a lounge upstairs. Pricing is based on 8 guests Extra guests are charged.

The Loft sleeps 6 to 9 guests. It has a king bed, centre lounge, and 2 single beds on the other side. Off the loft is another bedroom, and bathroom. It has a downstairs kitchen and living area. Pricing is based on 6 guests Extra guests are charged.
