Mongena Private Game Lodge

Overzicht

The 61-bed four star rated Mongena Game Lodge is situated in the malaria-free north-western section of the Big 5 Dinokeng Game Reserve – a convenient 40 minutes' drive, 35 km north of Pretoria. It is accessible by tarred main road or tarred private airstrip 10 km on the tarred Rust de Winter road from Hammanskraal.
The Lodge is named after the Boekenhout tree which is indigenous to the area.
The lodge has 24 tastefully furnished air-conditioned chalets/rooms providing single, double/twin or family accommodation all with private bathrooms comprising of bath and or/shower. All chalets are positioned amongst rolling lawns and indigenous landscaping in close proximity to the restaurant, pool and bar area. Each unit has coffee/tea making facilities, fridge as well as satellite TV programmes. The lodge can accommodate a total of 61 guests in shared accommodation.

A state-of-the art conference centre, boardrooms and a romantic chapel completes the unique offerings at the main camp.
The lodge also boasts a wheel-chair friendly twin room with a paraplegic bathroom facility. Baby cots and baby feeding chairs are readily available for families with small children.
Mongena is a day destination as well. You do not need to overnight to enjoy the facilities the lodge has to offer. You can book an early morning or late afternoon guided game drive/safari with qualified rangers who traverse on 8,000 hectares private concession in the Dinokeng Game Reserve. The following free-roaming animals can be encountered on a game drive: lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, rhino, giraffe, zebra, kudu, impala, tsessebe, eland, red hartebeest, blue wildebeest, hippo, crocodile and numerous other antelope and plains game Experience the wonderful world of nocturnal animals on the regular night drives. Experience the African Bush on foot under the expert guidance of our experienced rangers.

The lodge prides itself with a 28 ha scenic dam/lake where spectacular African sunsets can be viewed from the comfort of a luxury boat amongst hippos, crocodiles and prolific birdlife. Sunset cruises are undertaken in the later afternoon where you can watch the sky turn to a romantic purple-blue whilst listening to the African Fish Eagles cry. Wetlands surrounding the lake produce a variety of birdlife that even veteran bird watchers are pleasantly surprised to observe. The Imvubu boma venue facility next to the lake is ideal for teambuilding activities, weddings, product launches and private functions.
The gourmet chefs at Mongena go out of their way to serve exquisite cuisine in the a la carte Kingfisher restaurant for every occasion; be it a special birthday party, wedding, anniversary, or the regular relaxed Sunday lunch. The view from the Kingfisher restaurant overlooking the waterhole at the main lodge and onto the plains of the Dinokeng Reserve will be making you reluctant to leave.

The family unit consists of two bedrooms; 2 single beds which can be made up as kingsize double beds on the loft with ceiling fan, coffeestation and cupboard. The groundfloor airconditioned bedroom consists of two single beds which can be converted to kingsize double beds with a coffee station, flat screen TV, room safe in cupboard, hairdrier and turndown service at night. ned, The unit has a seperate toilet and a shared bathroom consisting of a shower and bath. Unit 21 is the only unit which accommodates 5 beds.

The room is air-conditioned, tastefully furnished, all with private bathroom consisting of a toilet, shower and some units bath tub as well. All chalets are well positioned amidst rolling lawns and indigenous landscaping. One twin room is wheelchair friendly with an adjusted bathroom for wheelchairs.
