Woodcliffe is a 1000 ha cattle farm extending into the upper slopes of the Southern Drakensberg in the north Eastern Cape and is situated 22km from Maclear. Nearby is the remarkable Naude's Nek pass, at 2 620m, the highest mountain pass in South Africa.
On the slopes of the Southern Drakensberg near Maclear, where the valleys and waterways cut and gouge their way to the sea, can be found what many describe as the ultimate 'eco' experience.
At Woodcliffe the peaks of the high berg soar to touch the sky. Cascading waterfalls laugh and chatter through the stunning riverine landscapes, where indigenous forests cling. Here the call of birds without number chase the sound of city life. Woodcliffe is a delight for the ecotourist, hiker, artist, photographer, birder and fisherman.

Woodcliffe is one of the few places that offers comfortable accommodation in the Maclear area on a farm . You can choose between the Cottage, Castle View, the Loft at the Farmhouse or the campsite. This is an excellent base for exploring the natural wonders of the area.
The rock art on Woodcliffe and in the surrounding area, of Maclear, is world-famous for its clarity and preservation. Be sure to book your nature guide well in advance.
The Maclear district is well renowned for it's fly-fishing. Woodcliffe is situated on the headwaters of the Little Pot River. Fishermen are assured of a challenge to catch the wiliest wild trout. Woodcliffe is a botanical paradise. Guided flower walks in the summer months will impress you as you find orchids, disas and gladiolus growing on the mountainsides.
The Loft at the Farmhouse, Cottage, Garden Flat and campsite: are situated in the valley bottom. Woodcliffe is arguably the most spectacular accommodation in the Maclear area. The Loft at the farmhouse (is our newest unit) it has two bedrooms and one bathroom. The cottage has three bedrooms with one bathroom. The Castle View is a one bedroom with an en-suite and has a kitchenette. The campsite is adjacent to the farmhouse and forms part of the Woodcliffe garden.
Both the Loft and Cottage have fully equipped kitchens, electricity, hot water, a stove, fridge and other furnishings. The Castle View unit has a kitchenette. The campsite has a gas geyser for the ablution block and wash up area.
All linen and towels are supplied for the Loft, Cottage and Castle View. Campers are to bring all their own tents, sleeping bags and towels Wood and grids are supplied for braai-ing.
