Areena Riverside Resort is nestled in a peaceful valley in the Eastern Cape along the border for the Wild Coast. Far enough from town, but close enough for the essentials, we are situated on the banks of the Kwelegha River, 23 km from East London at the southern gateway to the Cape Wild Coast.

Our Restaurant, Areena Quays, is situated on the banks of the river and it's the perfect spot to enjoy a scrumptious meal while overlooking the peaceful river and the natural beauty of the valley. We also offer a range of activities from MILD to WILD for the adventurous at heart. From quad bike safaris, canoeing, abseiling, paint balling, archery and pellet-gun target shooting to team building, fishing and a River cruise boat.

The resort offers unsurpassed value – awesome views of the river, cruises to the river mouth on the Kareena, terrific bird-life viewing, beautiful exposure to Wild Coast vegetation and lots of varied wildlife on the property that can be viewed from your camping site or game drives on four-wheelers. Needless to say, fish are in abundance – hook the big one from the riverbanks or fish at the river mouth, you can launch your boat from our slipway and moor your boat to our jetties, paddle-ski the river or jump off the rocks into the Kwelega, abseil, play tennis, enjoy a delicious variety of meals in our restaurant, cool off in the swimming pool, visit the petting farm and feed the animals, sunbathe on the beach, have fun in the games room and so much more… Once you have been to Areena Riverside Resort, we promise that you will always come back for more.

All our sites have an electrical point for a 3 pin plug and a braai stand with a grid. The site is either a grass or cement site. Both riverside and non riverside sites.

Double Ensuite

Bachelor style apartment, fully equipped for self catering with a kitchenette, and bathroom, with either a bath or shower. Twin beds, but can make up as a king bed on request.

Rondavel

Thatched open plat unit, with a double bed in the main area open plat to the kitchen and lounge. The single beds are up stairs in a loft. The unit is fully equipped for self catering with linen and bath towels provided. Rate quoted includes 4 persons only.

Timber Chalet

Riverfront two-bedroom unit, fully equipped for self catering with full bathroom and deck overlooking the river. Main bedroom has a double bed, the second room has twin beds. Linen and bath towels included
