If ever you needed a place to unwind, to enjoy friendship and fellowship, to recapture that unique and much needed sense of peace and harmony, you have come to the right place.
Sheltered and secluded in the picturesque Kloof, eco-friendly and fully equipped with gas appliances (geysers, stoves, and solar-powered fridges and lights), for a serene, carbon free, romantic off-grid atmosphere (no electricity), to get away from it all and be refreshed, more than 100 different bird species, small game, mountain tortoises, and many more, you will be able to rest, relax, hike, climb, swim, or just loose yourself in the wonder of nature or in a good book.
The centrepiece of Buitenstekloof Mountain Cottages is our Pomegranate Homestead dating back to 1823. Situated besides a dam in the Kloof, it offers an elegant self-catering venue with rustic old-world charm. It accommodates 9 people in three separate bedrooms, each with its own breathtaking views, plus 2 people in the adjacent Aloe Cottage. All the bedrooms are elegantly furnished, each with it's own flavour and style, and fully equipped with towels and quality linen. Eco-friendly and romantic unequalled off-grid, carbon free atmosphere to get away from it all and be refreshed, with solar-powered lights and fridges and fully equipped with gas appliances (stove/gas cookers, hot water, no conventional electricity except fro charging phones, tablets and cameras). It also offers an indoor fireplace and outdoor braai facilities, and a large enclosed veranda.
Due to the pristine nature and small game in the Kloof, no pets allowed.
Buitenstekloof Mountain Cottages also offers 3 separate, sleeping 4-5 adults, private and secluded self-catering cottages in the Kloof, each with its own breathtaking views, private hot tub, covered or enclosed verandah and both indoor and outdoor fireplace/braai facilities. All the cottages are equipped with gas cooker and geyser, and solar powered lights and fridges. High quality linens and towels are provided.
Buitenstekloof Mountain Cottages offers various activities on and around the farm.
Early morning and just before sunset you may encounter the klipspringer pair or other small game coming down to the water. Birdwatchers will enjoy viewing the more than 100 different bird species on the farm, ranging from the Witkruis arend to the lovely suikerbekkie. Or watch the antics of our 4-footed friends as they roam the mountains..
You may do some cycling on the various farm roads and in the Kloof (bring your own bike). Children and adults alike will enjoy the various tortoises, ranging from the small rooipensie to the old giant mountain tortoises. Relax with a fishing rod, relax in your own hot tub/plunge pool or cool off under the Waterfall, enjoy the magnificent night skies, and much more...

Stunning location, with beautiful surroundings and views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back. All essentials were provided and we also received some complimentary chocolate and wine. Thanks for the hospitality. We also enjoyed the hiking trials.

Good location albeit along a dirt track to get there. Facilities acceptable but not great. Chalet is overpriced for what is supplied.
