Our guest house is situated at the slopes of the beautiful Makhonjwa mountains, with a breathtaking panoramic view over the De Kaap Valley and town centre from our spacious verandah.
This 1890 built Victorian house poses a great history. Initially built as mining offices, during the South African war in the early 1900's it was used as a mess by the British military troops. After this, it came into possession of the Wormal family for 50 years. In 1996 Steve Prinsloo converted it into a guest house, and has since hosted hundreds of tourists and businessmen.
Kloofhuis is ideally situated to explore the town's rich historical heritage and the surrounding natural splendour. It is within walking distance from the centre of town as well as various other popular tourist sites, including museums and hiking trails.
The recently completed Geotrail is a must-see when visiting Barberton - showcasing the majestic splendour of the Makhonjwa-Barberton Mountainland (Barberton Greenstone Belt). A journey to the beginning of time, this area of rugged mountains is perhaps the most complete portrait of the Earth approximately 3.2 - 3.5 billion years ago.
