There is nothing quite like escaping to the unspoilt splendour of the Highveld, far away from the city's hustle and bustle. Riverman Cabin is situated in the Tonteldoos Valley, 25 km northeast of Dullstroom, which is only two-and-a-half hours' drive from Johannesburg.
Riverman Cabin consists of seven independent cabins – three of which are stone and thatch cabins, one brick cabin and the other three are wooden cabins. All the cabins are fully furnished and equipped for a homely self-catering experience. All the cabins are open plan with cosy indoor fireplaces, as well as private, external braai areas with complimentary wood stocked for the first night. Riverman offers fly-fishing in three well-stocked dams, driving range on site (clubs available for hire), a curio shop, picnics, scrumptious meals at the Mine View restaurant and excellent views on our nature walk.
This enchanting country experience caters for every whim, whether you seek peace and serenity or feel like challenging your adventurous spirit. Our trout dams lie waiting for the avid fly-fisher, willing to rise with the sun – coffee flask in hand. If this doesn’t tickle your fancy, sleep in and awake to the sounds of abundant bird life, then bask in the sun with a captivating read.
The farm boasts luscious trees, streams running through the trout dams and bold mountains, all of which contribute to the unique variety of fauna and flora to be found in the area, including endangered species such as the Crane family, Oribi, Aardwolf and Arum Lilies. Get to the top of the koppies any way you like, just as long as you take the time to soak in the panoramic grandeur of your surroundings and enjoy a sundowner with the mountains fading into the horizon
Whether you are a morning person who likes big breakfasts or prefer to sleep in, looking to spoil that special someone or just want a quick snack while you’re out and about – we’ve got you covered! In our picnic range we’ve mixed Luxury with Affordability – enabling you to get the full country experience without hurting your pocket!
Our fully-stocked dams ensure a great fishing experience for all. Rods can be hired at R100.00 per day and includes 10 flies. R100 deposit is required when renting a rod. To avoid disappointment, please book your rod in advance.
Bring along your golf clubs and test your skills at our Driving Range. Golf balls are charged at R40.00 per bucket (50 balls). Clubs can be hired at R10.00, for those who aren't regular players, but keen to give it a try.
Afterwards, silence a rumbling tummy with a delicious meal at The Mine View Restaurant, or enjoy a sundowner on the deck, overlooking the Driving Range. If the idea of freshly baked bread sounds enticing, you can order a bread, freshly baked on demand, in the restaurant. Satisfy your need for Retail Therapy at the quaint curio shop, located next to the Restaurant. Here you will find various arts and crafts, souvenirs and weekend essentials such as coffee, tea, toothpaste, charcoal and firelighters.

Thursday & Friday: 17:00 – 22:00 (Bar will stay open for guests wanting to stay longer)
Saturday: 08:00 – 22:00 (Bar will stay open for guests wanting to stay longer)
Sunday: 08:00 – 12:00. Bookings can be made outside the set operating hours.

Excellent value for money, peaceful and quiet surroundings,very friendly and flexible reception staff even Daisy ( we renamed her :Stealth, because of the way she suddenly appeared every night from nowhere out of the dark ) made sure that we were welcome and safe :) The complimentary firewood is also a nice touch as is the choice of homemade jams and preserves in the cabin which can be bought at very reasonable prices.
