This small, rustic, eco-minded family-run spot lies on the eastern side of the Mdumbi River mouth.
Wake up to mind-blowing views of the ocean, beach, rare mangroves and forest-lined Mdumbi River.
Rooms offer commanding views of the ocean, river, rolling green hills and Tshani point with its perfect right hand wave and beach breaks.
Surfing, fishing, river trips, boat hire, canoeing, hiking and biking, snorkelling, bird watching, and horse rides are just to mention a few activities to busy your day.... or just RELAX!
We offer double rooms, family rooms and a dorm rondavel/hut.
Kitchen is communal (makes for social evenings). Our self catered kitchen, with fridge/freezer, gas stove, and the usual kitchen goodies offers limited space for breakfasts and lunches only. We serve delicious home cooked breakfasts, lunches and house dinners daily.
Note that we are completely off the grid, have no municipal water and only rely on harvesting rain water. The area has no electricity and we make use of solar power for lights, gas for fridge, freezer and stove, paraffin for shower.
We stock a limited variety of beverages and alcoholic drinks. Just enquire beforehand if you have "serious preferences". Please try to bring returnable bottles if you do decide to bring your own drinks.
Recycling is one of our main concerns. Please note that should your child use disposable diapers you are requested to bring along your own diaper bags and to take them with you to dispose in a municipal area. Diapers are not bio-degradable and do not burn.
We offer very limited self catering get over peak seasons. Being completely off the grid our freezer facilities can not cope with too many heavy loads, ie. keeping a large groups meat frozen for 10 days. You are welcome to self cater for either breakfast or lunch. Just let us know the evening before if you will be having breakfast or lunch self catered.
Also be sure to bring along all your favourite treats, drinks, smokes, etc... Spazas only stock a limited amount of the very basics. Local beers ie Black Label, Hansa and Redds Cider & Savanah are available at shebeens.
Horse rides, hiking, snorkeling, fishing, surf lessons, kite boarding, kayaking, scenic boat cruises up the river, cultural dancing, a traditional evening spent with a local Xhosa household (includes traditional meal) or peaceful sundowners at the river edge can all be arranged.
For those who have not yet travelled to the Wild Coast it should be pointed out that you will be travelling in an under-developed region. The variety and quality of goods and services you may be accustomed to are not always readily available.
Freedom "O Clock is set in a remote and primitive region, where even the provision of fresh water can not be taken for granted. Taking this into account we aim to achieve the highest possible standards and we feel it is best to make you aware of this.
If you prefer luxury to comfortable living then the Wild Coast may not be for you...

We provide limited 4 x 4 and rooftop camping space set away from the main house in a very rural setting (fenced within the property). We like to call it "Freestyle Camping" and is not your average "Aventura" setup. You will need a 4x4 or a good bakkie should you want your vehicle parked at your tent. Your vehicle can securely be left at the main house if need. * Communal fire pit * No electricity or water on site. *Unfortunately there is not much shade (yet). Most folk bring along gazebo's etc. There are also 2 smaller sites closer to the main house. You will not be able to park your vehicle next to your tent.
