Welcome to Spitskop Nature Reserve and Kalahari Monate Lodge. Enter the true nature of comfort. Where the fusion of nature and hospitality is unequalled. You are welcomed to a reserve which in essence is a fine example of the famous Kalahari Desert. Kalahari Monate Lodge is situated just across from the entrance to Spitskop Nature Reserve. This new Lodge consist of 6 luxurious self-serve chalets with air-conditioning, fully furnished, a swimming pool and camping facilities with very neat ablution blocks.

We have 6 luxury self-catering chalets. Fully equipped with aircon and built-in braai. Grass-covered camping sites with power points and spacious ablution facilities. A deep blue swimming pool where you can cool off in the warm Kalahari summer. Opposite of Monate is Spitskop nature reserve. Spitskop hosts more than ten species of animals , birds and typical Kalahari flora. On top Spitskop hill is a telescope for game viewing. Popular attractions in Upington include Die Eiland (“The Island”), Spitskop Nature Reserve, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, Kalahari Kuierfees, The Raisin Festival and the SA Dried Fruit Co annual triathlon. Die Eiland is a Holiday Resort situated on an island in the middle of the Orange River. It boasts a gorgeous Date Palm entrance avenue of 1 041 metres of Palms planted 9m apart, which makes it one of the longest and the most dense palm avenues in the southern hemisphere.

The Raisin Festival is great fun for all travellers and locals in the area. This festival boasts a colourful parade of floats, beauty competitions, craft building competitions, potjiekos, pancakes and plenty of fun for family and visitors.
