The lodge is situated in an oasis of Fever Trees, Sausage Trees and the ever present Mopane Trees. With the Mogalakwena River flowing in front of the lodge, with it comes an abundance of birdlife that can be seen by simply taking a short stroll through the camp grounds. Limpokwena has over 350 recorded bird species which would keep any keen birder occupied for hours. Along with the colourful array of bird species, a regular sighting from the banks is a number of Nile Crocodiles that spend their day’s sun tanning on the shores. The reserve borders Botswana on the northern side, with the state veterinary fence dividing the property. From a vantage point on the mountains, it is possible to look Botswana’s Thuli Block, which emphasises the vast spaces and natural Wilderness.
