4. Overview:
The village of Kampersrus is nestled at the foot of the Southern Drakensberg mountain range, Mariepskop dominates. Accessed by on main road only, traffic is only resident related. There are approximately 500 bird species found here and it is possible to walk in unique rain forest at estimated 1900meters a.s.l. ancient and pristine. An enormous view of the Blyde dam, an ancient site, and the confluence of the Klasserie and Oliphant’s rivers, presents from the top of Mariepskop. Plant life up there is unique and in harmony with the surrounds. The area is home to all five indigenous species of primate.
It is quite likely to find bushbuck and other smaller antelope wander by, as well as a host of small inhabitants. To list all activities within easy reach would take some length, a feast.
