See a Suricate Colony responding to the farmer's calls (A suricate or meerkat is a small mongoose found in Southern Africa) *Local tours and activities are listed on our website and take place from New Holme Nature Lodge and we all work together in communal accord. Our activities at New Holme- 20min from Mieliefontein - include early morning birding drives, walks, horse riding, clear skies and bright stars for stargazing from our star deck, hippo drives, KhoiSan etchings, mountain bike trails, a swimming pool and more *There are three lodges, a log cabin and a tented camp on KhoiSan Karoo Conservancy. Beautiful surroundings. However our host was not available due to circumstances, which was understandable and she did make other arrangements for us with her children BUT I especially requested pet friendly accommodation and she was not aware of this request, although I did receive an email stating that Mieliefontein could accommodate my dog. She was not sure if her children could accommodate Trixie and we therefore decided to stay at Mieliefontein all by ourselves and not drive back on the N1 to the neighbouring farm. The domestic worker however was very friendly and accommodating, ensuring that we had clean towels and some ice for our drinks.
