The Brooklyn Theatre is Pretoria’s premier theatre and live classical music venue. It proudly declares itself to be an internationally acclaimed Steinway & Sons venue which specialises in ‘refined entertainment’. The theatre specialises in classical music concerts, recitals, operas and theatrical performances. It is discerning venue where patrons are assured of quality and highly enjoyable evening out.
The theatre is a fairly young establishment with a prime location. You’ll find it in Hatfield, in the heart of Pretoria, Gauteng. It is a 5 minute walk from the Hatfield Gautrain stop, the rapid transport initiative which carries passengers between the OR International Airport and various stops between Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The Brooklyn Theatre boasts numerous venues which are hired out for small conferences and special events like birthday parties and corporate functions, but its main offering is the 400-seater auditorium which has been designed with various experience-enhancing specifications. For starters the acoustics are exceptional and there is state-of-the-art equipment in use, which ensures the best possible experience for those who visit the theatre. There is also raked seating which ensures that each and every seat has a great view of the stage. The stylish, unimposing décor is the cherry on top.
The Brooklyn Theatre is home to a foyer bar and Intermezzo Restaurant (as of February 2013) which is open for breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake and cocktails - a more enticing combination does not exist! Finally there is the Salon Music Shop, also located in the foyer. It sells a variety of CD’s DVD’s and musical equipment, such as violin strings and metronomes.
