Accommodation near Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital
The Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital is located in Cape Town, in South Africa's Western Cape. You will find it right in the heart of the central business district, amongst business, restaurants and a number of accommodation establishments.
The hospital is named in honour of Doctor Christian Barnard, the ground-breaking South African surgeon responsible for performing the first ever human heart transplant at Groote Schuur Hospital in 1967. The hospital is owned and managed by Netcare, South Africa's largest private hospital group, which also operates in the United Kingdom.
Under Netcare's wing, the Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital has risen to great heights and boasts an outstanding team of highly skilled medical personnel backed by top-of-the-range technologically advanced equipment.
Apart from being the first private hospital in the Western Cape to implement a cardiac surgical programme, the Chris Barnard Hospital (as it is sometimes known) is proud to offer diagnostics and treatment for the full range of cardiac diseases under one roof. This includes adult and paediatric cardio and cardio thoracic surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, social workers, acute coronary care and more.
The hospital is also equipped with a 24 hour accident and emergency unit, a dialysis centre, cardiac laboratory, wound clinic, transplant centre, surgical theatres, HIV life centre and stork's nest maternity ward. Furthermore, a comprehensive range of specialties ranging from urology and dermatology to dietetics and dentistry are practised at the hospital.
Other facilities at the hospital include covered parking, waiting rooms, a coffee shop and a pharmacy.

Cape Town CBD always busy, but we enjoy the busy vibe. Plenty restaurants near the VIP Lodge, which was a plus.

Cape Town CBD
The CBD is clean and the people there are friendly and helpful. It felt like we were not visitors because we were not treated differently. The facilities are good and easily accessible. The place itself particularly the beach and the water front waaau, makes your trip enjoyable and a memorable one.
