The Cullinan Golf Club is situated in the little town of Cullinan, in the province of Gauteng, South Africa. You’ll find the town roughly 30 kilometers to the east of Pretoria. Its accessibility from the big city is a serious draw card for the little town and its golf course.
The Cullinan Golf Course is a 9-hole course and has been said to be the best 9- hole in the country. It claimed this title in 1954 and has clung to this title ever since. It was developed in 1905 by a group of Premier Mine employees and the original course was called the Premier Mine Golf Club for this reason. The course occupies the same patch of land today as it did then, however it has received consistent upgrades throughout the years ensuring that it is an up-to-date, well-maintained course.
The Cullinan Golf Club, which is situated in the heart of the little town, boasts some great facilities. The parkland course consists of bent grass greens and kikuyu fairways and there are practice facilities to help bring rusty players up to speed. For those wishing to brush up on their skills there is a pro-coach on hand while a pro-shop provides for all your golfing needs.
After a round of golf you can head to the clubhouse where you can relax in the bar, lounge or enjoy a meal with fellow golfers in the club’s restaurant. For special occasions or conferences the venue can be hired out.
Cullinan is a picturesque town with strong history in diamond mining. If you are playing golf in the area, it would be worth your while to check out some of the town’s other attractions too.
