Club is a popular club located in Vanderbijlpark
in Gauteng. It boasts a truly country-like setting, with a clubhouse set
amid an extensive parklands golf course with the Vaal River flowing nearby, contributing to the sense of calm imbued
in the place.
One of the
most obvious facilities offered by the club is the 18-hole golf course. The parklands
course, which is rated par 72, was designed
by Michael Barkett in 1948 and is sprinkled with trees throughout the
length of the course.
Other golf
amenities available are a driving range
and practice greens as well as a pro-shop
where one can organise lessons, the hiring of equipment or just get some advice
from the in-house pro. The Emfuleni Country Club has done everything possible
to ensure that you have the best golfing experience possible.
Outside of
golf there are a variety of other sporting facilities too. The Vaal River adds a special something to
the club and provides the opportunity for some unique activities, by country
club standards at least. For example, boating
and fishing. There are also well-maintained tennis courts for members’ use.
Since a
country club also serves the role of providing a place to socialise, there is a
halfway house, restaurant and bar available,
where folks can wind down after a tough week or an intense sports match. If
you’re really in need of some relaxation the day spa is a handy facility. There is also a coffee shop.
The
Emfuleni Country Club is located about 90
kilometres from the Giloolys interchange and can be reached from Johannesburg in roughly an hour.

Compared to Johannesburg the traffic (or lack thereof) was an absolute pleasure. The area along the Vaal River is really lovely. We took a cruise on a river barge at sunset which was great. There are beautiful properties along the river with rolling green lawns and nicely landscaped gardens.
