While Koffiefontein Golf Course might only be nine holes long, it offers a challenging yet exciting round of play, suited to the handicaps of both pros and novices. The grounds are characterised by jacaranda-lined fairways and overlook the Maluti Mountains as well as the barren landscape of the Free State.
Koffiefontein is an agricultural community found at the heart of the Free State. In the 1800’s, it was a stopover for travelling merchants on their way to diamond fields and gold mines in the north. The discovery of diamonds in the 1870’s led to the development of the town. As more and more prospectors began to settle in Koffiefontein, there grew a need for recreational activities and so the club was erected.
Today, the club is considered one of Koffiefontein’s major attractions, where enthusiasts while away lazy Sunday afternoons before heading to the fully-equipped clubhouse for a round of drinks. Those who have worked up an appetite after a game but don’t have the time to relax can pick up a snack for their drive home.
While the grounds are primarily frequented by members, visitors from afar are also welcome. Before teeing off with friends, practice your swing at the driving range. Beginners and experienced golfers who want to improve their game can sign up for one-on-one tutorials with qualified coaches.
If you’re looking to purchase clubs, balls or accessories, the club’s Pro Shop sells a wide range of golfing paraphernalia. Alternatively, carts and trollies can be hired out by golfers.
