Accommodation near Magalies Park Country Club - 3

Magalies Park is a time-share resort located in the foothills of the Magaliesberg mountain range. This mountain range extends from just north of Pretoria to a point just south of the Pilanesberg mountains. The mountain lies to the north of the resort, while the Hartbeespoort Dam lies to the south. As you can see, Magalies Park lies in the epicentre of Gauteng’s ‘short break’ destinations.

The setting at Magalies Park attracts many an urbanite desperate for escape, with its big blue skies above, towering mountains to the north and wide open spaces to either side. Apart from the fact that it is very close to some popular attractions, like the Hartbeespoort Dam, which is a haven for water sport fanatics, and the Magaliesberg which attracts hikers and nature lovers of all persuasions, Magaliesberg Park itself has some enticing attributes.

The 18-hole golf course is one such attribute, which provides a peaceful setting in which to hit a ball around with some friends. The course length is 5864 metres and 5001 metres for men and women respectively. Golf related services at the resort include club hire and repairs, golf lessons, locker rooms and a putting green. There is also a club house to kick back in after a game.

Magalies Park will appeal to birders too as it has been declared a bird sanctuary. This can sometimes make focusing on your round of golf quite tough as you spot some of the colourful inhabitants whizz by. If you know what a lilac breasted roller, a woodland kingfisher or a marsh owl looks like, you’ll understand what we mean.

The resort runs a series of children’s and teens’ programmes, so never fear if you’re dying to play golf but your kids aren’t interested. Everyone is catered for at Magalies Park.

Hartbeespoort
Great place, it was our wedding anniversary, so we went rock climbing (Own gear) at the Nuclear Crag on Africaland property, next to Necsa and enjoyed some white water rafting in the afternoon on the Crocodile River with Paddle Power. They also own a cute little restaurant with delicious food where you get off out of the raft, the Rusty Feather. Loads of little shops and found a Wonderful Portuguese restaurant right on the water at the boat club, next to the zoo, which I'll highly recommend. CHEAP Honey, in the town, driving away from the tunnel, after the Portuguese restaurant. It's solidly worth the stop, it's run by a pharmacist and her hubby.

Hartbeespoort
Hartbeespoort is a lovely place to visit to get away from home. There's lot to do and see. Also, they have a lot of restaurants and shops to visit. The best thing is that its not far to travel and you in the bush and away from the concrete jungle.

Yeyyy!! Haarties neh!! WOW!! Naturally beautiful and relaxing place. I stand by the coining that Haarties is indeed Gautengs' millionaire playground, however it still caters for everyone including us mere mortals lol:)
