Munster Beach is situated on the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, near Port Edward, and is surrounded by vast coastal vegetation and rocky outcrops.
The beach is expansive and stretches out for miles, where holidaymakers and beach-goers can enjoy a day out in the sun without feeling overcrowded.
Due to its warm current and shark protection nets, Munster Beach is popular amongst swimmers and surfers. At the right time of day, the area is ideal for fisherman with its abundance of Rock Cod and other varieties of reef fish.
Nearby attractions include the San Lameer Golf Course, where a round of golf can be enjoyed amidst a variety of buck and birds. One can travel further afield to visit Clear Water Trails Mountain Biking – an attraction that offers avid cyclists an unparalleled biking experience as they peddle through the surrounding farmlands. For the kids, Mac Banana offers a variety of outdoors activities that include quad biking, paintball, the Mac Barnyard animal farm and a butterfly area. For the hungry, there are mouth-watering pancakes on sale.
Neighbouring beaches include the ever-popular Glenmore beach – a site of the annual sardine run which is accompanied by countless schools of dolphins. Just inland from Port Edward is the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve – a popular breeding ground for vultures who build their nests along the river. Apart from the vultures, the area is home to baboons, buck, monkeys and the black-backed jackal.
