Accommodation near Port Shepstone Country Club

The Port Shepstone Country Club is a favourite attraction in the area. It lies on the outskirts of Port Shepstone, the administrative capital of KwaZulu Natal's South Coast (also known as the Hibiscus Coast). It occupies a beautiful patch of land between the Indian Ocean and the Mzimkhulu River, providing an ambience second to none. Furthermore, the facilities at the club won't leave you wanting!

The country club's main attraction is its golf course. The course is an 18-hole affair which presents an enjoyable challenge to golfers of all levels. Generally, the coastal area upon which the country club is situated is characterised by coastal dunes and indigenous vegetation. The first half of the course offers the best showcase of this landscape, as holes 1 to 9 are surrounded by coastal forest complete with indigenous trees. It even has mangroves lining the fairways. From the 10th hole onwards, the course offers a different set of challenges, with a number of water hazards as well as a wind. This half of the course is more exposed to the elements.

A particularly enjoyable aspect of the Port Shepstone Country Club's golf course is the presence of wildlife. There are numerous bird species which can be spotted while out on the course, such as fish eagles, storks and numerous duck varieties. Small mammals like duiker and monkeys also inhabit the area around the course and can sometimes be spotted.

The country club's other facilities include a pro-shop and club house with a lovely laid back attitude. There are squash courts, bowling greens and a cricket oval too.

Port Shepstone
City with relevant amenities but besides golf little to offer. Good starting point though for adventuring into the areas around with their many nature sites.
