The Victoria Country Club is one of Pietermaritzburg’s most prized offerings. It is located in the city, only 5 minutes from the central business district. However, despite its proximity to the centre of town, it offers a haven for all who pass through its gates.
Pietermaritzburg is city in KwaZulu Natal and is the official gateway to the Midlands, a picturesque area notable for its lush green farmlands, rolling hills and the famous Drakensberg Mountains in the background. The city is set in a very green area at the edge of the escarpment, and these are the views easily observed from the Victoria Country Club.
The club is blessed with a truly beautiful setting. It borders the Queen Elizabeth Nature Reserve, thus sharing some of the wildlife, such as impala and duiker, which wander onto the property. There are also many bird species which can be spotted including Crowned eagles, Black sparrow hawks and Thick-billed weavers.
The golf course has a mixture of parklands and grasslands terrain and the view from both the course and the clubhouse provides views of the escarpment and surrounding valleys. This makes it a wonderfully relaxing place to check out for a day. The range of sporting facilities on offer will also put you ease – nothing like a round of tennis or squash or a swim to get the endorphins pumping.
The Victoria Country Club also offers a variety of function venues for conferences, corporate meals, birthdays or weddings. There are two bars offering light meals and accommodation is available at the club.
