Accommodation near Westcoast Ostrich Show Ranch
This fascinating and novel attraction is
not an especially well-known one, and being situated just outside Cape Town,
often gets overlooked for flashier sights like Table Mountain and the
Winelands, however, it is a very worthy day trip in its own right, combining
the best tourism ingredients: shopping, stunning views and the opportunity to
learn something new, which come together in a lovely experience.
The ranch is a working ostrich farm located
in Philadelphia, a farming region up the West Coast, a few kilometres outside
of Cape Town. It lies just off the N7 highway, making it simple to find and
easily accessible.
There are various aspects which make up the
West Coast Ostrich Show Ranch, namely the leather and egg factories, the breeding
programme, the curio shop, the leather and egg factory shop, a restaurant and a
delightful tea garden. The star of the show for many though, is the tours which
are offered on a regular basis.
These tours take you through the factory,
allowing visitors to see how the leather is treated and the steps required to
assemble the various items which are made from it. You will also visit the egg
factory and the incubation area where the eggs are kept warm before they hatch,
a visit to the chick nursery is also on the itinerary and finally the tour
takes guests out to check out the adult ostriches and even provides the chance
to sit on one, with the view of the iconic Table Mountain in the background.
After you complete your tour and have your
shopping done, you can settle into the restaurant, which is housed in a lovely
Cape Dutch-style building, for a leisurely meal.

Durbanville
Honestly, often not the first place one may think of for some time away. I thought this, and was proven quite wrong. Great surrounds, views, locations, and things to do. A fantastic place to get away for a while and just enjoy relaxing activities.

Durbanville
Durbanville was a lovely area of Cape Town. It was very close and provided easy access to the airport and city centre. There were lots of restaurants and shops in the area. We would definitely stay in the area again.
