Accommodation near Westlake Golf Club
The Westlake Golf Club is a lovely green in Cape Town, only half an hour from the city centre. You will find it at the end of the M3, lying between the foot of Boyes Drive and the bottom of Ou Kaapse Weg. Its position, tucked under the Muizenberg Mountains and Silvermine, make a round of golf here exceptionally peaceful. Needless to say, Westlake Golf Club is a popular one for amateurs and old-hands alike.
It is also a well-maintained one. The course, established in 1932, is a parkland style course with 18 holes and only soft spike shoes are permitted. To uphold the club, standards, a fairly strict dress code applies on the course – recognised golf shirts (and/or t-shirts for ladies) tucked into trousers or shorts. In the club house a smart-casual dress code is adhered to.
The maintenance work which is poured into the green is also put into the club’s other facilities, which are numerous. These include a driving range, putting green and gear rental – clubs, trolleys and golf carts. There is also a pro shop and lessons can be arranged to suit your competence level.
Socially, the club offers a great place to hang out. There are two bar areas one upstairs and one downstairs which each have accompanying lounge areas. Furthermore, there is a restaurant which not only serves good food but offers spectacular views over the peninsula. The club house also has a boardroom and function facilities.
Visitors are welcome at the club any day of the week barring Wednesdays and Saturdays and there is plenty of great accommodation nearby too.
