Bunkers Hill is a residential suburb in East London, one of the biggest cities in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The city is renowned for its lovely location on the warm Indian Ocean and the friendly locals who live there.
The suburb of Bunkers Hill is located north east of the East London central business district and is surrounded by greenery and open sports fields. It lies between the suburbs of Woodleigh and Baysville and all that separates it from the sea is the East London Golf Club’s golf course. It goes without saying that travelling golfers will be very happy to find themselves in a friendly bed ‘n breakfast in Bunkers Hill.
The suburb is quite lush and the large properties and wide streets contribute to its laid back suburban feel. However, while it is a residential area through and through it is close enough to the CBD for businesspeople not to be inconvenienced by distance.
East London Central, with its combination of old buildings and newer business areas, can be reached from Bunkers Hill in under 15 minutes, so getting there quickly for a business meeting or alternatively just a leisurely stroll taking in East London’s historical sites is not an issue.
The area is brimming with sporting complexes from tennis courts and bowling greens to the golf course and cricket pavilion. The beach, which is popular among surfers, is about 2 kilometres away. Furthermore, the restaurants and curio shops which line the East London sea front from the harbour are close too, as is the aquarium.
