Crocodile Bridge Gate Logement
Crocodile Bridge refers to the gate which enters the Kruger National Park in the south eastern part of the reserve. This area lies in the eastern part of Mpumalanga, which is known as the lowveld. The small towns and settlements around the Crocodile Bridge gate are popular because this southern region of the Kruger Park is extremely well-populated with game.
It is also popular because the Crocodile Bridge gate is one of the most easily accessible entry points into the park. It is only few kilometres from the town of Komatipoort and you can reach Crocodile Bridge easily from Nelspruit and Maputo (in Mozambique) too. Furthermore it is only 411 kilometres from Johannesburg.
Being situated on the lowveld means that this region experiences a subtropical climate. The summer months are characterised by hot humid days while winters are mild and drier. The humidity contributes to the lush vegetation in this area and ensures that the grasses stay juicy. The abundance of food in this southern region attracts many herbivores such as antelope and giraffe, which in turn attract predators.
The Crocodile Bridge section within the Kruger Park boundary falls into an area known as the Southern Circle – a circle of land where the wildlife is especially prolific, for exactly those reasons. It must also be noted that the numerous perennial rivers in the area also ensure that there is plenty of drinking water for the animals. All in all, this is a great area of the park if your goal is to spot game. It is known for its lion prides and for having accommodating the largest percentage of Kruger’s rhinos.
