Curry's Post, a scenic village found at the heart of the Midlands Meander, is named after the Curry Family – a group of settlers who set up a trading post in the 1860’s. During the height of the gold rush, the trading post functioned as an overnight pit stop for weary travellers who were en route to the Transvaal in search of their fortunes.
Today, remnants of the past are still found in the village, with the ‘Coach House’ being one such example. This historical mansion was home to Charles Curry, his wife, and their large brood of children. Since its construction, the building has largely remained intact, having received only minor changes to its frame.
Apart from its historical richness, Curry's Post is known for its sheer beauty. The land is a combination of farms – mostly dairy and vegetable - and endless stretches of enchanting forests.

Albert Falls Amble or just ‘Amble’ is found on the outskirts of Currys Post. Unlike the Midlands Meander stretch, the Amble is dubbed as the ‘road less travelled’, known only to the locals. Despite its obscurity, it boasts a myriad of historical locations, nature reserves, and outdoor adventures. Amble is home to a multi-cultural community, with residents originating from England, Ireland, Germany, and throughout Southern Africa.
If you’ve got a taste for cheese and other dairy products, a visit to Swissland Cheese is mandatory. Having been established in 1992 Swissland Cheese was the brainchild of Fran Isaac – a local farmer who has a passion for producing nutty pecorinos and soft bree. A trip here teaches individuals about the company’s hands-on approach to cheese making and gives informative tidbits about the different types.
